Fire Alarm System Upgrade – Meridian Quay Project

Project Overview

Project Name: Meridian Quay Project
Project Duration: 22 Weeks (Completion: November 2025)
Sector: Residential

Client Need

The Meridian Quay development required a full upgrade of its fire alarm system due to identified fire safety deficiencies, including defective fire compartmentation and combustible external cladding on multiple buildings. To address these critical risks, the fire alarm system was upgraded to an L5 standard, incorporating heat detectors in each individual dwelling to ensure early detection and occupant safety.

Key Challenges

  • Tight 22-week programme requiring precise planning and execution.
  • Complex system integration between two different alarm platforms: Protec and Eurotech.
  • Large-scale site comprising multiple residential blocks.
  • Ongoing resident engagement, ensuring clear communication and minimal disruption during works.

Fire-Rite’s Solution

Fire-Rite delivered a comprehensive and compliant solution tailored to the unique challenges of the site:

  • Upgraded the communal fire alarm system to L5 standard for enhanced fire protection and early warning capabilities.
  • Installed a fully wireless fire alarm system within each dwelling to allow for non-invasive installation and maximum coverage.
  • Successfully integrated the Protec and Eurotech systems, enabling seamless communication and monitoring across the entire site.

Results & Impact

  • The building is now safely occupiable, meeting all current fire safety standards.
  • Significant reduction in fire risk due to improved early detection systems.
  • Enhanced system reliability and comprehensive fire coverage throughout all residential blocks.
