Role Summary
We are seeking a Mechanical Suppression Engineer to join our growing fire protection team. This role is responsible for the installation, inspection, maintenance, and servicing of gaseous and kitchen suppression systems, including fire extinguishers and related life safety equipment. Candidates with prior fire suppression and fire extinguisher experience are desirable, however, motivated mechanical professionals willing to train and develop in the fire protection industry are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and service mechanical fire suppression systems (gaseous & kitchen suppression, etc.).
- Perform inspections, testing, and maintenance of fire extinguishers and suppression systems to a standard that satisfies the customer and the company (BS7273, BS5306 Pt 3:2017 & ISO 9001:2015)
- Diagnose mechanical issues and perform repairs or replacements as needed.
- Conduct fire extinguisher inspections
- Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and system specifications.
- Ensure all work complies with safety regulations, building codes, and company standards.
- Maintain accurate service records, inspection reports, and compliance documentation.
- Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and clients to ensure timely completion of projects.
- Provide technical guidance and training for junior technicians (as experience allows).
Requirements
Essential:
- Experience in gaseous & kitchen (Ansul and/or Amerex systems) fire suppression
- Mechanical aptitude and strong troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various environments (industrial, commercial, confined spaces, heights).
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Eagerness to learn, take initiative, and grow within a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel to various sites.
Desirable:
- Experience in room integrity testing
- Experience servicing fire extinguishers
- Relevant certifications (e.g. Ansul R-102, Amerex kitchen systems, Fire Extinguisher Technician License, etc.).
